I have taught Visual Art in a variety of contexts and to all ages (Grades 1 through 12) since 2009. I've always been interested in sharing my passion, leading practical workshops and museum visits as a teenager and Fine Art student at university. Across all age and ability levels, teaching art is often challenging but always rewarding and I work to ensure that all my art students are developing the critical thinking as well as technical skills necessary to create conceptually considered and personally relevant artwork.
I believe that art is a powerful vehicle for students to explore their sense of self and engage with the world around them. I view the classroom as a working studio, where my goal is to maintain a meaningful balance between building technical proficiency and critical understanding while encouraging independent exploration and expression. This practice naturally fosters the essential skill of self-management which students refine as they take ownership of their creative process, from initial research and planning to resolved artworks.

Previously, I was the art teacher at THINK Global School, where I built an art curriculum with a place-based and interdisciplinary focus, and established the IBDP Visual Art course in such a nomadic learning environment. The video below was produced as an introduction to a unit of work developed for THINK Global School's Boston semester in 2013. "Power and Persuasion" addresses the idea of social commentary through art.
Since 2016, I have created a video for the IBDP Visual Arts Exhibition to showcase and celebrate our students' achievements.
